Tony Piatt, Manager, Fixed Site Operations, walked with the organization’s float in the Fiesta Flambeau parade on Saturday night, and it turned out to be an emotional experience.
Here is what he wrote:
Dear Team,
I wanted to share and pass along messages of thanks from the crowd at the Flambeau parade Saturday night. It was a testament to the profound impact of our work and the gratitude that pours forth from the hearts of those we serve.
As we walked the bustling streets, surrounded by the flickering glow of city lights and the cheers and applause of families, it became abundantly clear just how deeply our efforts resonate with the people of our city.
The sight of our community gathered in seats and bleachers, waving and cheering and throwing confetti of appreciation and showering us with applause and thank-yous for what you all do was a poignant reminder of the profound bond we share with those we serve.
In moments like these, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by a sense of humility and pride. Humility, because we are reminded of the immense trust placed in us by our community — a trust we strive to honor each and every day. Pride, because we have the privilege of serving a community that recognizes and celebrates the importance of our work, not just during emergencies, but in the quiet moments of everyday life.
Each day, we answer the call to serve with dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment. We do so not for recognition or praise but out of a profound sense of duty and a deep-seated desire to make a difference in the lives of those around us.
And Saturday night, as we basked in the glow of gratitude from our community, we were reminded that our efforts do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
To our team, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for everything you do. Your tireless dedication, professionalism and selflessness are the cornerstones of our organization. It is because of your collective efforts that we are able to make a real and lasting impact on the lives of others.
As we move forward, let us carry the spirit of Saturday night’s parade with us—a spirit of gratitude, unity, and unwavering commitment to serving others. Together, there is no challenge we cannot overcome, no obstacle we cannot surmount, and no community we cannot uplift.
It was truly overwhelming!
