San Antonio businesses recognized at SCABB meeting

Two businesses from San Antonio received awards for outstanding work in the community at the recent South Central Association of Blood Banks meeting in San Antonio.

BioBridge Global and South Texas Blood & Tissue Center took part in four sessions, and STBTC and QualTex Laboratories served as event sponsors.

The SCABB convention gathers vendors and colleagues in the blood industry to engage and learn from one another in order to ensure a safe blood supply for patients in need. Thirty-four exhibitors were at the meeting.

The event took place from May 30-June 1 at the Grand Hyatt.

BioBridge Global and South Texas Blood & Tissue Center took part in four sessions:

  • GCPlus—A Growth Supplement Derived From Expired-Human Blood to Enhance Stem Cell Expansion presented by Anand Srinivasan
  • Choosing the Right Employee presented by Laura Eickhoff
  • Brothers in Arms From Recruitment Side presented by Eric Crawford and Rosalva Cruz-Calderon
  • Expert Panel with executives and medical directors, which included Elizabeth Waltman

At the President's Award Luncheon, two businesses from San Antonio received awards for outstanding work in the community.

Valero Energy Corporation and the Valero Foundation were awarded the President's Award of Merit–Outstanding Contributions and Brian Lujan of Big Lou's Pizza with the President's Award of Merit–Outstanding Individual.
