Your post-blood-donation timeline

As soon as you’re done: Relax. Give yourself 15-20 leisurely minutes to recover on the donor bed. We promise the snacks won’t disappear.

After you’ve relaxed : Visit our donor canteen and pick up a snack (or two) and something to drink. Have a seat. See what’s happening on Instagram.

On the way out: Schedule your next donation. Take a selfie with Harry, post it on your social media and challenge two people you know to give.

Three hours: Drink at least 24 ounces of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages. (Alcohol and caffeine both make it harder for your body to replace liquid lost in a donation.)

Eight hours: Relax. Stay cool. Drink more of those recommended beverages. Avoid strenuous exercise. Keep that bandage on your arm. Make that next meal a full one.

24 hours: Don’t push yourself too hard. If you feel nauseous or dizzy, sit down. Treat yourself. You’re a lifesaver, after all.
