Partnering to save lives:
- According to America’s Blood Centers, a blood transfusion occurs in the United States every two seconds. South Texas Blood & Tissue works hard to keep up with that demand.
- According to the American Association of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), about 62% of the U.S. is eligible to donate blood, yet only 3% do so annually.
- Local blood donations ensure hospitals across South Texas have the lifesaving blood patients depend on.
Blood donations are especially important heading into summer, when schools are out and travel increases, often leading to fewer donations. Maintaining a stable blood supply ensures hospitals across South Texas can continue supporting trauma care, surgeries and ongoing patient treatment.
