Donate blood for chance to receive Dallas Cowboys tickets
SAN ANTONIO – Donors have a chance to score some major football bragging rights: Give blood at any South Texas Blood & Tissue donor center between Aug. 24 and Sept. 1 to be entered into a drawing for two field-level Cowboys tickets for the Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game at AT&T Stadium on Sept. 14.
In addition to the Cowboys tickets, the lucky donor will receive a $250 Valero gift card and a $250 Marriott gift card.
People of all ages and lifestyles need blood. Young Halo Botha is a star volleyball player at Boerne High School. She was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of cancer that damages the infection-fighting cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes. Lymphomas change and grow out of control and affect the body’s normal functions. Lymphomas are the most common cancer for children ages 15 to 19.

Lymphoma is treatable. The outlook can vary depending on the type and stage of the illness when diagnosed. Halo will need chemotherapy to combat the disease and will likely need blood in the near future.
“Her bloodwork has been really good so far,” Kim, Halo’s mother said. “Doctors were shocked that nothing has showed up in her blood, but we have heard that it is highly likely she will need blood at some point.”
Blood donors make it possible for people like Halo to receive the treatment they need. Donors are the true champions!
