How do blood donations help cancer patients?

In July 2025, Halo Botha’s long awaited beach trip was interrupted when sudden illness led to a CT scan revealing cancerous masses on her pancreas and kidneys. Within days, doctors confirmed she had Non-Hodgkin’s Large B-Cell Lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer that had already spread. The diagnosis brought emotional shock to her family and meant stepping away from volleyball, a passion she’s held since childhood. Halo has since undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, with more treatments and likely blood transfusions still ahead in her fight against the disease.

"Hearing the words “cancer” and “probably stage 4” is every parent’s nightmare. In that instant, our world shifted."
