SAN ANTONIO – They have given a commitment to our country, and now they are making one to our community.
South Texas Blood & Tissue is hosting a blood drive at the American Legion Post #2, 3518 Fredericksburg Road, on Monday, Nov. 3. They’re asking donors to band together and give blood. Every donation ensures that hospitals and patients have the blood supply they need when it is needed most.
This blood drive, which will be from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., is aimed specifically at those who have served their country, those who have a shared vision of service, generosity and strength in numbers. It’s a reminder that even when duty ends, the mission to help and serve others continues long afterwards.
Audra Taylor, Vice President of Blood and Tissue Operations for South Texas Blood & Tissue understands the importance of blood in the community.
Taylor recently retired from military service with the rank of colonel and was the Division Chief of the Armed Services Blood Program for the Defense Health Agency. With more than 15 years of leadership in the military blood program, she has been instrumental in informing and leading the community to support this critical need.
“The role of blood products in saving lives became my lifelong motivation to ensure a safe, reliable blood supply for those who need it most,” Taylor said.
As a thank you, donors will receive an H-E-B Gift card valued anywhere from $10-$100 and a voucher for a free Whataburger.
