George Strait tickets blood donation promotion runs March 15–April 4
SAN ANTONIO – The chair is waiting for you … the donor chair, that is! Anyone donating blood at a South Texas Blood & Tissue donor center between March 15 and April 4 will be entered into a drawing for a pair of floor-level tickets to the April 9 George Strait concert in Austin.
No need to drive to Amarillo by morning. Just visit your closest South Texas Blood & Tissue donor center. With nine locations across the region, donors have convenient opportunities to give blood and help save lives across South Texas.
Blood donations are a lifeline for 5-year-old Aleyda. When she was 3 years old, little Aleyda was unwell. The lively child was unusually lethargic. Because Aleyda has Down syndrome, she could not communicate her discomfort. Eventually her primary doctor sent her to the hospital where she was diagnosed with leukemia.
Aleyda relies on blood transfusions to keep her healthy. Her mother Amber said the change in Aleyda after receiving blood is like a switch being flipped. “Her color comes back, her energy returns, and she’s ready to play again,” she said.
“Blood transfusions have helped Aleyda continue her fight against cancer,” Amber said. “We’ve seen firsthand how vital they are for her, but so many other patients too.”
As Fiesta approaches, South Texas Blood & Tissue is encouraging the community to participate in the George Strait tickets blood donation promotion to help bolster the blood supply. Donations tend to decline during festivities, but the need for blood never takes a break.
The public can visit SouthTexasBlood.org or call 833-You- Give (833-968-4483). to schedule a donation.
