Why This Newsletter?

About Me and Why “Blueprint”?
I’m Adrienne B. Mendoza, a dedicated leader in the cell and gene therapy field, passionate about advancing healthcare through innovation and collaboration. My personal mission has been profoundly shaped by transformative experiences, including the loss of my beautiful mother, Carla, to ovarian cancer when she was just 40 years old. This early loss ignited my commitment to improving healthcare. Later in my career, my work in blood banking and cell therapies deepened that resolve, as did my participation in the U.S. Competitiveness Project at Harvard Business School’s Young American Leaders Program (YALP) and my education at Cornell University’s Sloan Program in Health Administration. These experiences have inspired me to answer Ezra’s call to “Do the greatest good” by addressing systemic barriers in healthcare through cross-sector collaboration.
Coming from a family of architects, with my father and sister shaping the built environment through intentional design, I’ve come to appreciate the profound parallels in my own work. While I didn’t follow their path in a traditional sense, I firmly believe the same principles of thoughtful, creative, and intentional design can be applied to healthcare. Just as architecture creates enduring structures that address human needs, well-designed systems in healthcare can build sustainable solutions to meet the complex demands of today. This philosophy has not only influenced my approach but also inspired the title and theme of Blueprint for Breakthroughs.
With expertise spanning biotechnology, blood banking, public and community health, healthcare systems, and advanced therapies, I now serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at BBG Advanced Therapies, a subsidiary of BioBridge Global headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. It’s an exciting role, since the South Texas region offers a unique ecosystem of challenges and opportunities in healthcare delivery, making it an ideal environment to drive manufacturing innovation, advance analytical development, and foster strategic partnerships. My goal is to improve patient accessibility to groundbreaking therapies such as CAR-T, MSCs, and tissue-based regenerative medicines.
