REPROCELL and BioBridge Global sign Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate global manufacturing services using clinical iPSCs

Champions fore Charity

The Blood & Tissue Center Foundation is once again participating in the Valero Texas Open Champions fore Charity, a no-cost program that gives 100% of the funds raised back to the participating organization, plus incentives including a 7% match.

As a director of the Blood & Tissue Center Foundation, you have the opportunity to give to a variety of causes, such as the Red & White Ball, which all can be found on the donation designation form.

Pledging now gives you the opportunity to pay later through Champions fore Charity, where your gift can be matched at 7% up to $10,000, making your donation go further.

In 2020, matches and incentives provided by Champions fore Charity began the Foundation Fund, which helped support the subsidiaries of BioBridge Global. In 2023, these same funds earned through Champions fore Charity will continue to support this fund and give hope to patients through the continuation and success of our programs, products and outreach.

In 2022 bonus money earned through Champions fore Charity helped purchase onesies for the Born a Hero program and assisted with South Texas Blood & Tissue’s Apheresis Nurse Dot Ward’s emotional meeting with her marrow recipient, Jemma.

In 2023, matching dollars earned through Champions, and additional sponsorship from one of South Texas Blood & Tissue’s partners, Xtant Medical, made it possible for a young tissue donor’s family to travel to Pasadena, California, where he and 43 other donors were honored through floragraph portraits on the Donate Life America float in the Tournament of Roses parade.

There, his family was embraced in the donor community by meeting other donor families, living donors and transplant recipients.

The Blood and Tissue Foundation has participated in Champions fore Charity since 2014 and has seen substantial growth in not just participation but the difference funds raised make in our community.  We are excited to be participating again.

This year, Champions fore Charity Chair Michael Kaplan has teamed up with Fundraising Chairs Pam and James Smothers to offer some extra excitement around this year’s campaign.

This year, not only will your donation get up to a 7% match through the Valero Texas Open, but for every $250 you donate, you will be entered into a drawing for one of three wine packages. Every $500 will earn you entry into a drawing for package four, a staycation at La Cantera Resort & Spa complete with a $1200 gift voucher that can be applied towards room fees, dining, spa or golf.To kickoff this exciting opportunity, the winner of package one will be drawn at noon on Feb. 24 and will walk away with a wine and hors d’oeuvres tasting at William Chris winery and three bottles of their wine. All other winners will be drawn April 11. Package two includes one gift certificate to hiatus spa for a couples massage and a bottle of wine and package three includes a well-stocked wine refrigerator.

To participate, simply fill out and return the donation designation form and complete your payment or pledge online, by mail, or over the phone with Adriana at 210-249-4489.

Major Gifts Update – February 2023

From Clay Howell, Director, Development, The Blood & Tissue Center Foundation

Thanks to you and a highly supportive community of donors, in 2022 your Blood & Tissue Center Foundation raised $1.9 million in funds to support South Texas Blood & Tissue and BioBridge Global programs. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!  For a listing of supporters, please visit our benefactors’ page.

We enter 2023 on a high note, primed and ready to repeat our success and impact even more lives.  We will seek assistance from the philanthropic community across South Texas to promote blood donor recruitment and retention programs, renovate South Texas Blood & Tissue donor centers, upgrade our helicopter landing pad used in the Heroes in Arms pre-hospital trauma transfusion program, add and upgrade critical equipment used during blood donations and in research and development, and replace blood service vehicles essential to blood collection and delivery to hospital partners for transfusion in their patients.  All of these play an important role in our efforts to increase blood donations.

We are in this together and I ask you to join me in sharing these opportunities to support our mission with your friends, family, colleagues, and network.

Letter from Board Chair Jeanne Bennett

Dear Board Members:

Welcome to each of you and thank you for your time and commitment in agreeing to serve on the 2023 Blood & Tissue Center Foundation Board of Directors.

Our focus this year will be the many ways we can have a positive Impact on the mission of The Foundation by celebrating the best of the past 20 years and building on that success for the next 20.  Together we will accomplish great things this year and Impact the future of our blood supply and blood delivery, to support the growth of San Antonio and the surrounding communities we serve.

As we kick off the year there are a couple of housekeeping items:

  • Make sure your contact information for the pictorial directory is up to date and that you submit a photo to Adriana at adriana.vasquez@biobridgeglobal.org if you haven’t yet.
  • Email foundation@biobridgeglobal.org to express your interest in joining a committee, project or program you are interested in working on. Adriana will add this into the directory we can better connect with each other and share our mission with our networks.
  • The need to increase our “social presence” continues to grow. Please be on the lookout for social posts or email info to share with your networks.

In keeping with the theme of Impact these are a few we can all do to help increase our blood donation base as well as our financial base.

  • Review the 2023 Ways to Give list included in the 2023 Champions fore Charity Donation designation form in the February board meeting packet.
  • If possible, please make your financial commitments now through Champions Fore Charity – we receive an additional 7% of revenue, and donations through Champions increases opportunities for The Foundation to earn “bonus money” simply by driving donations through that program without any additional costs to The Foundation.
  • If you have contacts for possible philanthropic donation, please talk with Clay Howell about the best way to proceed.  We are actively looking to broaden our financial donor base.

Through your efforts, each of you have the ability to make a positive Impact on people’s lives and the communities in which they live.  Let’s Impact together!

Thank you!!

Best,
Jeanne Bennett
