San Antonio donors receive limited edition Fiesta Medal
Just in time to celebrate Fiesta, all blood donors in San Antonio will receive the exclusive South Texas Blood & Tissue 50th Anniversary Fiesta medal.
This year’s medal highlights our 50 years of collecting blood donations from our community, for our community. The medal includes the trademarked double hearts with red dye to resemble the lifesaving blood that thousands depend on from volunteer donors.
Blood donors can donate at any San Antonio South Texas Blood & Tissue donor center or mobile blood drive (while supplies last).
“Fiesta is always a time for celebration, and we want to celebrate our generous blood donors who are saving lives every day,” said Francine Piña, Senior Manager of Donor Marketing & Community Engagement, South Texas Blood & Tissue.
More donations are needed ahead of Fiesta celebrations, which tend to interrupt the usual schedule of donations. The community may also see an increase in accidents that may require blood transfusions.
South Texas Blood & Tissue provides blood to more than 100 hospitals in 48 counties for accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those undergoing treatment for cancer or sickle cell disease require regular transfusions.
Donors are encouraged to schedule a donation at SouthTexasBlood.org or call 210-731-5590.
