50th anniversary medals still available in time for FIESTA!
As the South Texas heat rises, blood donors have a chance to cool off in style. From April 14 through April 27, all donors who donate blood at a South Texas Blood & Tissue donor center are automatically entered to win an H-E-B KODI cooler. This exciting opportunity aims to encourage the community to give blood and help save lives in the process. In the month of April, whole blood donors will also receive the 50th Anniversary Fiesta Medal while supplies last.
All blood types are needed to meet the constant demand for blood transfusions. Every two seconds someone in the United States requires a blood transfusion, and the need for donors is ever-present. Currently, only approximately 3% of the eligible U.S. population donates blood each year, highlighting the importance of increasing this number to ensure a sufficient blood supply for those in need.
Donating blood is a simple and impactful way to make a difference in someone’s life. It only takes an hour to potentially save a life. The average individual donates blood 1.8 times per year, and whole blood donors can donate every 8 weeks. This regular commitment to blood donation helps maintain a stable blood supply and ensures that hospitals and clinics can provide life-saving transfusions whenever needed.
