Care to Cures: Where Mission Meets Motion was a special event held on September 18 that showcased how BBG Advanced Therapies is expanding access to advanced cell and gene therapies for patients who need them. Attendees gained a closer look at innovative programs that help bring lifesaving care directly to patients and healthcare providers across the region.
One of the event’s key highlights was the celebration of BBG Advanced Therapies’ second mobile leukapheresis center, funded through support from The Blood & Tissue Foundation’s 2025 Red & White Ball. Leukapheresis is the process of collecting a patient’s white blood cells, a critical first step in many cell and gene therapies, including CAR T-cell therapy. The mobile center allows this specialized service to be delivered closer to where patients receive care, helping reduce travel burdens and improve access to treatment.
Guests also heard from Naomi Herrera, Senior Manager of Clinical Leukapheresis Services, who shared her family’s experience navigating leukemia treatment when her daughter had to spend weeks away from home. Her story reinforced a key message of the event: access matters. With only a fraction of eligible patients currently receiving CAR T-cell therapies, BBG Advanced Therapies is dedicated to working to remove barriers and creating more opportunities for patients to receive the care they need. Care to Cures celebrated the power of innovation, expertise and community support working together to improve patient outcomes. Together, we are opening doors to lifesaving care, strengthening our communities and helping more patients access the treatments they need closer to home.
