The story of peripheral blood stem cell donor Rudy Aguilar, who traveled from Eagle Pass to San Antonio during the February winter storm in Texas was broadcast on ABC stations nationwide on the “Hearts of Heroes” program.
Aguilar had to be flown in to San Antonio via helicopter to make his stem cell donation because the unprecedented winter storm had closed roads across South Texas.
The “Hearts of Heroes” story also features Naomi Herrera, Manager of the Center for Apheresis and Therapeutic Services at South Texas Blood & Tissue Center, and Samuel Hillhouse, NMDP Program Administrator for Clinical and Research Operations at STBTC.
Aguilar’s story first was reported on Spectrum News San Antonio.
